(The fuel boost pump installation on certain Model 737 aeroplanes is almost identical to the installation on Model 727 aeroplanes.) |\n| | The original issue of this Directive was issued to detect and correct chafing of the fuel boost pump electrical wiring, prevent leakage of fuel into the conduit and to prevent electrical arcing between the wiring and the surrounding conduit, which could result in arc-through of the conduit together with consequent fire or explosion of the fuel tank. |\n| | Amendment 1 resulted from the FAA correcting a typographical error in AD2007-11-07. The repetitive inspection interval is now expressed in hours TIS rather than flight cycles and the requirement for retrospective submittal of inspection reports have been deleted as the compliance time has passed. All other aspects remained unchanged. |\n| | This Amendment follows a superseding AD being issued by the FAA. Amendment 2 (this version, March 2008) further expands the scope by reducing inspection thresholds for certain aircraft and changing the basis for compliance timing from Airworthiness Directives to service bulletin inspections. It also incorporates a new revision of the Boeing service bulletin (Revision 2) and establishes equivalence with updated FAA directives, effectively harmonizing with US regulatory changes rather than maintaining the original standalone Australian approach."},"complexity_factors":["Multiple nested compliance timelines based on aircraft model, production line number, and prior maintenance history","Cross-references to four different versions of Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 737-28A1120 (Table 1) and ASB 737-28A1263 Revisions 1 and 2","Conditional logic with 'whichever occurs later' clauses and retrospective acceptance of prior work done under different versions","Reference to foreign regulatory equivalence (FAA AD 2007-24-02 and AMOC approvals)","Three distinct requirements with different compliance triggers and deadlines","Technical aviation terminology requiring domain knowledge (TIS = Time In Service, ASB = Alert Service Bulletin, AMOC = Alternate Method of Compliance)"],"plain_english_summary":"This CASA Airworthiness Directive mandates inspections, re-sleeving, and repair of fuel boost pump wiring on certain Boeing 737 (-100/200/200C/300/400/500) to stop chafing that could allow fuel-to-wire arcing and risk tank ignition. \n\nOperators must inspect and fix defects per Boeing SB 737-28A1263 Rev 2 (initial within 120 days or 5,000 fh, then every 15,000 fh), complete repairs before flight, and report results within 30 days."},"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":6,"scope_assessment":{"changed":true,"description":"Amendment 2 narrows compliance timing by reducing inspection thresholds for certain aeroplanes and bases thresholds on completion of service bulletin inspections rather than earlier AD-based triggers.
