This action prevents installation of repairs that are outside allowable limits, which can adversely affect the weight and centre of gravity of the elevator tab and result in excessive in-flight vibrations; and consequent loss of controllability of the aircraft.Amendment 2 allows the use of an FAA approved AMOC (Refer FAA Letter120S-03-1016) without the need to obtain an exclusion from CASA.Amendment 1 was issued to introduce terminating action for the requirements of this Directive. |\n\n| | The original issue of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on15 August 2001. |\n| --- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nCharles Lenarcic \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n3 August 2011","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/B737/164 Amdt 2","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/B737/164 Amdt 2","content":"## AD/B737/164 Amdt 2","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Elevator Tab Repair","sectionType":"part","heading":"Elevator Tab Repair","content":"## Elevator Tab Repair","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"16/2011","sectionType":"part","heading":"16/2011","content":"## 16/2011","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"kimi_summary":{"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"This amendment remains tightly focused on its original purpose: ensuring safe elevator tab repairs on specific Boeing 737 models.
