The hose had collapsed because of internal ply separation of the flexible hose. The consequence on the aircraft of these collapsed hoses might be insufficient anti-icing not detected by the system. Ice accretion on the wing might then occur and might jeopardize the performance and safety of the aeroplane.Further incidents led to a shortened temporary periodicity of inspection of 10 flights during which the anti ice system has been activated. The installation of an improved flexible hose, P/N FAL 1007 was previously approved with a life limit of 90 flights during which the anti ice system has been activated. This AD mandates, as a terminating action, to replace the old FAL1005D hoses with new FALl007 hoses. The FAL1007 hose now has a life limitation of 700 flight hours. The incorporation of the new FAL1007 hoses will terminate the actions detailed in AD/AMD 10/25 Amendment 1.AD/AMD 10/25 Amendment 1 will be cancelled at a future date. |\n| ----------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nJames Coyne \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n16 August 2006","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/AMD 10/26","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/AMD 10/26","content":"## AD/AMD 10/26","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Wing Anti-Ice Hoses","sectionType":"part","heading":"Wing Anti-Ice Hoses","content":"## Wing Anti-Ice Hoses","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"10/2006","sectionType":"part","heading":"10/2006","content":"## 10/2006","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary_failed":{"failed":true,"reason":"A positive credit balance is required for all requests, including BYOK, so fallback providers remain available. AD/AMD 10/25 imposed short periodic inspections (every 10 flights with anti‑ice activation) and placarding/AFM limitations as an immediate mitigation. AD/AMD 10/26 requires incorporation of SB F10‑313 Rev 1 and mandates replacement/ life‑limits for the improved hose (P/N FAL1007) — a structural, long‑term corrective action. In short, the instrument moves scope from short‑term monitoring and restriction (temporary mitigations) to a mandated hardware replacement and defined life‑limit, and makes SB incorporation a terminating action for the prior AD. Maintenance organisations that perform the work and the parts supplier(s) are also affected.\n\nWhy it matters (safety trigger)\n\n- The measure responds to in‑service failures where a wing anti‑ice flexible hose collapsed due to internal ply separation. A collapsed hose can mean the system does not supply adequate anti‑ice protection and this may not be detected by the system, allowing ice to build on the wing and degrade aircraft performance. The AD therefore prescribes inspections and a mandatory replacement/life‑limit regime to reduce that risk (Background and Requirement sections).\n\nKey actions required and timing\n\n- For aircraft fitted with P/N FAL1005D that were placarded (prohibiting flight in icing) and had the AFM limitation added under AD/AMD 10/25 Amendment 1:\n - Incorporate SB F10‑313 Revision 1, and then remove the placard and the AFM limitation that had been added (Requirement 1).\n - Compliance: within 330 flight hours or 7 months, whichever occurs first, after this AD becomes effective (Compliance 1).\n\n- For aircraft fitted with P/N FAL1005D that are being monitored under the 10‑flight temporary periodicity (i.e. inspected every 10 flights during which the anti‑ice system was activated) as required by AD/AMD 10/25 Amendment 1:\n - Incorporate SB F10‑313 Revision 1 (Requirement 2).\n - Compliance: within 330 flight hours or 7 months, whichever occurs first, and you must not exceed the 10‑flight count since the last inspection prior to compliance (Compliance 2).\n\n- For aircraft fitted with P/N FAL1007 hoses:\n - Replace the hose at the interval required in this AD (Requirement 3).\n - The stated replacement interval (life limit) for the FAL1007 hose is now 700 flight hours (Background & Compliance 3).\n\n- Incorporation of SB F10‑313 Revision 1 is a terminating action for the earlier AD/AMD 10/25 Amendment 1 (so once SB is incorporated and any required replacements done, the temporary restrictions/inspections from AD/AMD 10/25 cease).\n\nWho pays, who decides, and what behaviour changes\n\n- Operators pay for parts, labour, and aircraft downtime to carry out the SB incorporation and hose replacements. Maintenance organisations perform the work to the SB. The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) delegate issued the AD (signature block).\n- Behavioural changes: tracking flights in which the anti‑ice system is activated (where applicable); performing the SB work; removing placards/AFM limitations when allowed; and replacing hoses at the specified life limits.\n\nCosts, incentives, trade‑offs and implementation issues (mechanics, not advocacy)\n\n- Direct costs: purchasing new hoses (P/N FAL1007 where required), labour to comply with the SB, and aircraft downtime while work is performed. These are concentrated costs borne by Falcon 10 operators and by the maintenance supply chain.\n- Operational trade‑offs: earlier temporary regime imposed frequent inspections (every 10 flights with anti‑ice activation) which increased maintenance burden; replacing with the approved hose and the 700 flight‑hour life limit reduces inspection frequency but requires capital replacement and life‑limit tracking.\n- Incentives and market effects: the supplier(s) of the approved hose (P/N FAL1007) receive concentrated benefit from required replacements. Operators may re‑schedule maintenance cycles to absorb the new life limit. There is a small administrative burden to record and monitor the number of flights during which anti‑ice was activated (for aircraft still operating under the temporary inspection regime prior to SB incorporation).\n- Implementation risk: accurate counting of 'flights during which the anti‑ice system has been activated' is required where the 10‑flight inspection periodicity applied; record‑keeping errors could lead to non‑compliance or unnecessary replacements.\n- Compliance burden: aside from the replacement cost, changes to the AFM and removal of placards are administrative tasks; incorporation of the SB is the formal terminating action that ends the temporary measures.\n\nOther references\n\n- The AD notes EASA AD 2006‑0114 (dated 10 May 2006) as a related document.\n\nSource notes\n\n- The requirements, compliance intervals, and background causation are taken from the AD/AMD text (Requirements 1–3; Compliance; Background). The instrument states the safety purpose; the practical effects listed above follow from the mandated inspections, part replacements, and life limits."},"kimi_summary":{"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":4,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"This AD maintains its original narrow scope — addressing a specific known defect in Falcon 10 wing anti-ice hoses.
