Investigations revealed that the carbon seals in the centre sump were allowing excess buffer air into the centre sump due to a loss of sealing effectiveness, causing an increase in the overall oil system pressure. To accommodate this situation, the maximum oil pressure limit was increased from 90 psig to 95 psig. The operation up to this new limit, however, causes the scavenge system pressure to increase leading to a life degradation of the engine oil tank. |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nJames Coyne \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n17 July 2008","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/AE 3007/5","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/AE 3007/5","content":"## AD/AE 3007/5","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Engine Oil Tank Ventilation System","sectionType":"part","heading":"Engine Oil Tank Ventilation System","content":"## Engine Oil Tank Ventilation System","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"9/2008","sectionType":"part","heading":"9/2008","content":"## 9/2008","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"kimi_summary":{"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"This AD maintains its original narrow scope — addressing a specific mechanical defect in a defined engine serial number range.
