The in-flight engine shutdowns have been attributed to loss of engine oil from the starter shaft seal. The actions specified by this Directive are intended to prevent an in-flight engine shutdown due to loss of engine oil. This Directive also allows for the modification of the starter drive adaptor pad drain with an approved orifice as an alternative to the procedures detailed in the referenced FAA AD.This amendment provides a terminating action which is required to incorporate by30 September 2009. The current AMOC is still approved until this time. The original issue of this Directive became effective on 14 April 2005. |\n| ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |\n\n![](image.001.png) \nJames Coyne \nDelegate of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority\n\n13 June 2008","sortOrder":0},{"sectionNumber":"AD/AE 3007/4 Amdt 1","sectionType":"part","heading":"AD/AE 3007/4 Amdt 1","content":"## AD/AE 3007/4 Amdt 1","sortOrder":1},{"sectionNumber":"Starter Adapter Drain","sectionType":"part","heading":"Starter Adapter Drain","content":"## Starter Adapter Drain","sortOrder":2},{"sectionNumber":"8/2008","sectionType":"part","heading":"8/2008","content":"## 8/2008","sortOrder":3}],"analysis":{"flash_summary":{"complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"The amendment does not broaden the affected engines or the safety objective; it modifies permissible compliance methods by approving specific restrictor parts as an Alternative Means of Compliance and sets a terminating-action deadline.
