The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.\n\nAD/A320/100\n\nAmdt 2\n\n \nPilot Footrest and Actuator Attachment 9/2000\n\nApplicability: All models A319, A320 and A321 without either Airbus Industrie modification 28472 or Airbus Industrie Service Bulletin A320-25-1225 incorporated.\n\nRequirement: 1. Inspect in accordance with Airbus Industrie SB A320-25-1220; and\n\n2. Modify in accordance with Airbus Industry SB A320-25-1225.\n\nNote 1. DGAC AD 2000-256-145(B) refers.\n\nNote 2. DGAC AD 1999-074-127(B) has been cancelled, and is referenced in the previous amendment.\n\nCompliance: 1. Within 500 hours’ time in service after 17 June 1999, or at 15 months since last inspected in accordance with the initial issue of this Directive; thereafter at intervals not exceeding 15 months; and\n\n2. Before 31 October 2001.\n\nThis Amendment becomes effective on 7 September 2000.\n\nBackground: A report was received of an in-flight loss of a footrest actuator retaining clip at the first officer position. A detached actuator could cause interference with the rudder pedals.\n\nAmendment 1 was to call out the definitive Service Bulletin and to provide terminating action.\n\nAmendment 2 has mandated modification rather than continued inspection.\n\nCOMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA (Civil Aviation Regulations 1998), PART 39 \\- 105 CIVIL AVIATION SAFETY AUTHORITY\n\nSCHEDULE OF AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES\n\n![](image.003.png) \nAmendment 1 of this Airworthiness Directive became effective on 23 March 2000. It mandates an inspection of the pilot footrest/actuator attachment and a required modification (the terminating action) by the AD deadline. It affects operators and maintenance organisations; it’s intended to eliminate the hazard from a reported in‑flight loss of a footrest actuator retaining clip that could interfere with rudder pedals and compromise flight controls."},"kimi_summary":{"content_quality":"ok","complexity_score":3,"scope_assessment":{"changed":false,"description":"This AD maintains its original narrow scope — addressing a specific mechanical defect in pilot footrests on specific Airbus models. It addresses a safety problem where a **pilot's footrest actuator** (the mechanical part that lets pilots adjust their footrest) could detach in flight.\n\n**Why it matters:**\n\nA detached footrest actuator could fall down and **jam the rudder pedals** — the controls pilots use to steer the aircraft left and right. This creates a serious flight safety risk.\n\n**What airlines must do:**\n\n- **Inspect** the footrest mechanism following Airbus Service Bulletin A320-25-1220\n- **Modify** the aircraft by installing an improved design following Airbus Service Bulletin A320-25-1225 (this permanently fixes the problem)\n\n**When they must do it:**\n\n- Inspections: Within 500 flight hours after 17 June 1999, or 15 months since last inspection, then every 15 months\n- Modification: Before 31 October 2001\n\n**Key change in this version:**\n\nThis is **Amendment 2**, which makes the modification **mandatory** rather than allowing airlines to just keep inspecting repeatedly. The previous version (Amendment 1) allowed ongoing inspections as an alternative."},"flash_summary_failed":{"failed":true,"reason":"A positive credit balance is required for all requests, including BYOK, so fallback providers remain available.
